Sacred Heart SHS Displays Football Prowess At Sunyani’s 2025 Zone A Inter-School Games:

The 2025 edition of the “Zone A” Annual Inter-School Football Competition was held from April 28th to May 2nd at the Sunyani Coronation Park, drawing enthusiastic participation from nine senior high schools across the Sunyani East and West Municipalities. The event turned into a thrilling celebration of athleticism, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Sacred Heart SHS’s Participation and Group Stages

Sacred Heart Senior High School participated in both the boys' and girls' divisions. The boys’ team was placed in Group A alongside Sunyani SHS, St. James SHS, and SDA SHS. In the girls’ category, Sacred Heart SHS was grouped in Group B with Notre Dame Girls SHS, Sunyani SHS, and Odumaseman SHS.

Group stage matches were highly competitive. The Sacred Heart SHS boys secured a commendable second place in their group with five points—achieved by a 1-0 win over St. James SHS, a 2-1 win on penalties against SDA SHS, and a narrow 0-1 loss to Sunyani SHS. This result qualified them for the semi-finals.

In the girls’ division, Sacred Heart SHS finished fourth in their group despite tying on points with Notre Dame Girls and Odumaseman SHS, with the final rankings determined by goal difference.

Knockout Rounds and Final Standings

In the semi-final, Sacred Heart SHS boys faced a strong Twene Amanfo SHS side and lost 0-3. This sent them into the third-place playoff against Chiraa SHS. Despite a spirited performance, Sacred Heart narrowly lost 0-1, finishing fourth overall.

Road to Super-Zonals

Their fourth-place finish, however, secured them a coveted spot in the upcoming Regional Super-Zonal Football Competition, scheduled from May 26 to June 6, 2025, once again at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Massive Support and Team Spirit

The competition attracted large crowds, including students, staff, alumni, and members of the public. Thanks to the support of the Headmistress of Sacred Heart SHS, a full bus of enthusiastic supporters accompanied the team to cheer them on at every match, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

This year’s tournament was more than just a football event—it fostered unity, excitement, and school pride. Sacred Heart SHS’s performance was commendable, showing promise for even greater achievements at the super-zonal level.

Sacred Heart SHS sincerely appreciates the Physical Education Department for their hard work and guidance, which greatly contributed to the team’s success and inspired discipline, resilience, and teamwork among students.
